After looking deeply into Freya’s eyes day after day and asking her, “What kind of dog are you?” we finally got the answer. Backyard breeders often claim that the puppies they are selling are a combination of popular breeds. Freya came to us as a German Shepard / Labrador Retriever but after she only grew a fraction of her expected growth we knew we’d been dooped.

With a dog that was a German Shepard cross of course I looked for signs of hip dysplasia or other genetic weaknesses but the relief of knowing exactly what kind of dog Freya explained more than I could have imagined.

Those big ears! Must be the dingo in her. We found out that Freya not only likes but NEEDS her daily dose of exercise. Being a working dog we would love to get her a job but for now she’s just going to have to settle with being the biggest cuddle bug. Perhaps one day we will be lucky enough to visit a sheep farm!

We not only got a complete glance at what makes Freya who she is, we also had the opportunity to test her genetics against health indicators.

Overall we are extremely satisfied with the Embark genetic test and only wish we had gotten it completed sooner. Now that we know more about our best furry friend we can be even better companions to her.
